If you love cruising as much as we do, then you won’t want to waste a single second of your well-earned holiday. Making the most of a cruise doesn’t have to involve meticulous planning and organisation, but you do have to think ahead.
Decide on why you’re cruising
Are you cruising to explore new places, try new things, or to get some peace and quiet? The reason for your cruise will dictate how you want to spend your time, as not everyone cruises for the same reasons. If you are looking to relax, then you will want to focus in booking spa treatments and researching the nearest beaches and quiet restaurants in port stops. However, if you are looking to explore as much as possible then you need to focus on researching excursions.
You can book most activities both on-board and during port days in advance online. This ensures you have organised your priority activities before you go and if you can relax, safe in the knowledge that you have booked your place. If you are really desperate to do something, it is best to book as soon as you can.
Research your destinations
Research your destinations and find out as much as possible before you go, as you may find your perfect activity or excursion that the cruise line isn’t offering. If you want to book excursions through private companies, researching in advance gives you the opportunity to check their credentials and ensure that they are reputable and safe.
Create a list of the things you really want to do and some of the things that you would quite like to do. Focus on getting the things done that you really want, then fit in other activities around those.
Remember that you are on holiday. Don’t plan so much that every second is filled and you end up very disappointed if you feel like you have missed out. Schedule in plenty of time to do whatever you feel like on that day. You may have to adjust plans due to inclement weather, or unexpected route changes during hurricane season, so while it is great to book activities in advance prepare to be flexible.
